A Community Benefit for Avalon: A Center for Women and Children.

For thirty years, Avalon: A Center for Women and Children has provided shelter, counseling, and supportive services to more than 11,000 domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in the Greater Williamsburg Area. Come join us celebrate the stories of success and a future where love doesn’t hurt.

• Fun Fest starts at 3 p.m. with inflatable fun activities and educational student booths
• Concert kicks off at 7 p.m. featuring The Dave Matthews Tribute Band and W&M Student Entertainers.

Run, Walk, and Celebrate through Merchants Square
Run the D.O.G. for Avalon features more than 1,000 runners in this Grand Prix event through the streets of Colonial Williamsburg
Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes ® featuring 100+ men walking down Duke of Gloucester Street in high heel shoes to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence.
• Live music and entertainment throughout the day.
• Farmers’ Market, vendors, and community awareness booths

A Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix Event

 

Entries limited to 1,500 runners or walkers.

 

The extraordinary 5Kl course runs through the campus of the College of William & Mary and into the historic district of Colonial Williamsburg, finishing on Williamsburg's famous Duke of Gloucester Street, named one of America's "Top 10 Great Streets" in 2009 by the American Planning Association.

Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes®

 

Come show support for the women in your life and join us at Walk a Mile in her Shoes: An International Men's March to End Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence. ® Your one mile trek in women's high-heeled shoes will help Greater
Williamsburg's survivors of sexual and domestic violence served by Avalon: A Center for Women and Children.

All participants receive a t-shirt, bag full of local deals, and a chance to win some cool stuff.


When: April 17, 2010 at noon
Where: Merchants Square, Williamsburg
How much: $20 donation for individuals or teams
Need shoes? Rent them for $5.

Entries postmarked before April 8 are considered early registration and will receive the discounted price and guaranteed requested shirt size. All registrations after this date will get shirts while supplies last.
